Anti-Martingale strategy in crypto betting

As a very curious player, seeing an “Anti” strategy always makes me pause and wonder – is the original so bad that someone had to create its opposite?

That’s what first drew me to the Anti-Martingale strategy. In this article, I’ll show you when (and how) to use it, and whether it’s actually worth your time.

🔑 Key takeaways

  • Anti-Martingale works best in short winning streaks because it increases bets only when you’re already ahead.
  • The strategy protects your bankroll by keeping bets small during losing runs instead of chasing losses.
  • Long automated crash sessions didn’t generate profit, as winning streaks were too rare to support consistent progression.
  • Anti-Martingale performs best in short, disciplined sessions with clear limits on even-money games like roulette or baccarat.

What is Anti-Martingale strategy?

The Anti-Martingale strategy first gained popularity as a response to the traditional Martingale system’s aggressive approach to chasing losses.

While Martingale has you doubling bets after losses, Anti-Martingale takes the opposite path – you double your bets after wins and return to your base bet after losses.

When you’re winning, you bet more with the house’s money. When you’re losing, you keep your risk minimal by sticking to your base unit.

Let’s see the core aspects of the strategy:

  • Best suited for even-money bets (close to 50/50 odds)
  • Double your bet after wins, reset after losses
  • Maximize hot streaks and minimize cold runs
  • Popular in roulette, baccarat, and crash games
  • More conservative than traditional Martingale

How does it work?

Unlike aggressive systems that try to recover losses quickly, Anti-Martingale takes a more measured approach by capitalizing on winning streaks.

What I love about Anti-Martingale is its natural handbrake approach. Even if you dream big, the system keeps your ambitions in check.

Let’s see how it works with a $10 base bet:

  1. Bet $10, win → Double to $20
  2. Win at $20 → Double to $40
  3. Win at $40 → Double to $80
  4. Lose at $80 → Reset to $10

You’re only increasing bets during winning moments. When you hit a loss, you drop back to your original stake.

Here’s my Anti-Martingale roulette progression over 10 rounds:

Bet numberBet amountResultProfit/LossRunning balance
1$0.50Win+$0.50$10.50
2$1.00Win+$1.00$11.50
3$2.00Loss-$2.00$9.50
4$0.50Loss-$0.50$9.00
5$0.50Win+$0.50$9.50
6$1.00Loss-$1.00$8.50
7$0.50Win+$0.50$9.00
8$1.00Win+$1.00$10.00
9$2.00Loss-$2.00$8.00
10$0.50Win+$0.50$10

Looking at six wins out of 10 bets, a $0.50 profit might seem modest. But the real win here was how well the bankroll held up throughout the session.

The best part? Even a string of five losses wouldn’t have wiped me out.

That’s the kind of stability that makes Anti-Martingale a good option in the long run.

Anti-Martingale pros and cons

Like any betting system, Anti-Martingale has its ups and downs. Let’s see what makes it tick and where it might fall short.

I’ll start with what I loved about the system:

âś… Only increases bets when you’re winning
âś… You have a natural protection against devastating losses
âś… It’s easy to learn and implement
âś… Works well with even-money bets across different games
âś… You capitalize on hot streaks

The not-so-good:

❌ Hot streaks don’t come often
❌ Might miss bigger wins by resetting too quickly

Best Anti-Martingale strategies

Want to make the most of the Anti-Martingale system?

While there’s no guarantee of winning, these five tips will help you implement the strategy more effectively, especially if you’re playing in casino races and wager-based raffles.

1. Start small, think big

Your starting bet sets the foundation for everything that follows. While it’s tempting to begin with larger bets, especially when you’re feeling confident, discipline is key.

The biggest Anti-Martingale mistakes I see? Starting too big and running out of room to progress when hot streaks hit.

Remember, Anti-Martingale is about capitalizing on winning streaks, not recovering losses.

2. Pick your perfect game

Not every casino game is suited for Anti-Martingale progression. You need games with even-money bets and reasonable table limits that won’t cut your progression short.

Roulette and baccarat are perfect examples – they offer clear 50/50 opportunities without complex decision-making.

Some casino race strategies do work better if your game selection is top-notch.

Yes, some would say that blackjack is a good opportunity, but in blackjack, things get complex very quickly.

3. Time your progressions

Timing is about knowing when to progress and when to reset.

And it’s way harder to follow than you imagine.

Watch for clear patterns before starting your progression.

This patience often pays off better than jumping in randomly. Don’t force progressions during choppy sessions.

If you’re seeing a win-loss-win-loss pattern, stick to your base bet until a clearer trend emerges.

4. Set clear targets

Anti-Martingale requires strict discipline with both profits and losses. Before each session, establish clear goals and stick to them regardless of how you feel about the game’s “momentum.”

The hardest part is to know when to walk away.

Your profit target should be realistic – perhaps doubling your buy-in.

More importantly, set a stop-loss that protects your bankroll. I usually recommend stopping if you lose 50% of your session bankroll, regardless of how “due” you feel for a win.

5. Mix your games

While Anti-Martingale works across different games, each one requires a slightly different approach.

I’ve found that switching games can actually help maintain your discipline and prevent emotional decisions.

For example, if roulette isn’t treating you well, switch to baccarat, where the pace is different, and you can reset your mindset.

Just remember to maintain your base betting unit across different games to keep your bankroll management consistent.

Testing Anti-Martingale in crash games

We’ve done quite a lot of talking so far; it’s time we put this strategy to the test.

We’re going to kick things off with a simple Anti-Martingale strategy, just like the one we described in the example above.

Experiment 1

For this first experiment, we’ll automate this strategy by using the crash gambling scripts in Crash by BC Originals, and we’ll use BC.Game’s JB currency, which is specifically designed for strategy testing at BC.Game casino.

Here’s the plan:

  • We’ll place 1JB bets as our base bet amount
  • We’ll cash out automatically at 2X, so we double our money with each win
  • As the Anti-Martingale strategy suggests, we’ll double our bet amount on each win
  • And we’ll return to our base bet amount upon a loss

And here are our script settings in the image below 👇

script settings on bc.game casino for anti martingale strategy
We used BC.Game’s pre-programmed Martingale script.

With the script in place, we observed its operation in the first 30 rounds, and then we left it running on its own for the remainder of the day. Here’s what happened!

Experiment 1 – Results:

We started out on our journey feeling optimistic, thinking we just might turn a small profit. Well, we couldn’t be more wrong.

After 392 rounds of crash, our results were a complete train wreck. We were losing 181 JB coins, and despite a few up-ticks from a few winning streaks, we had very little hope of turning an actual profit.

first checkpoint of anti martingale test

But we didn’t give up, oh no, we kept pushing. Well, the fact that we weren’t losing real money helped as well.

final result of anti martingale test

After 1005 rounds of the game, we called it quits. There was no hope left for us. We ended our journey with a 527 JB loss.

Even though we placed small 1 JB bets, we wagered 3196 JB in the 1005 rounds of crash, and we suffered quite a serious loss. Now imagine doing this with a higher bet amount and real money, It would be nerve-wracking.

👉🏼 Even though we cashed out at 2X, which according to BC.Game gave us a 49.5% chance of winning and the opportunity to double our money on a win, we weren’t even close to being profitable.

Despite the clear evidence that this strategy doesn’t work with high odds of winning, we weren’t ready to give up just yet. This brings us to our second experiment.

Experiment 2:

Due to the disappointment with our first experiment, we were eager to give it another go with a higher level of risk and return. We kept all of our settings exactly the same, but we upped our payout multiplier to 4X.

Here are our script settings for the second experiment 👇

crash script settings

Experiment 2 – Results:

Our second experiment started off with a bang! Things were looking good! Once we passed that 140th round of crash, we encountered a slight slump that made us lose 4 JB. But we didn’t think much of it, we could easily bounce back at this point.

anti martingale test second experiment image 1
Our journey has been rocky but mostly profitable so far!

However, that little slump just would not get away, nope. It dragged on till the very end, and once again, we failed to secure a profit with the Anti-Martingale strategy.

anti martingale strategy test 2

After 600 rounds and many hours of playing, we called it quits.

In all fairness, we would have quit much earlier if we played with real money. With a loss of 89JB, we decided that was it; this strategy simply isn’t worth it.

Anti-Martingale in other games

Let’s get practical and see how this strategy works in real gambling scenarios. I’ll be honest – after testing Anti-Martingale across different games, I’ve found it particularly effective in certain areas.

Anti-Martingale in roulette

Lightning Roulette
Lightning Roulette can get you some juicy bonuses on top of your bets.

The classic casino game remains one of the best fits for Anti-Martingale, or at least in my opinion.

The even-money bets in roulette provide clear win/loss scenarios, which makes the strategy perfect for progression tracking. Focus on even-money bets, like:

  • Red/Black
  • Odd/Even
  • 1-18/19-36

Roulette’s clear win/loss outcomes make it perfect for Anti-Martingale progression – no gray areas, just pure progression opportunities.

Let’s see how to apply Anti-Martingale in roulette:

  1. Bet on Red, win → Double to $20
  2. Win again → Double to $40
  3. Lose at $40 → Reset to $10

Unlike Oscar’s Grind, which aims for steady one-unit profits, Anti-Martingale in roulette lets you capitalize on those hot streaks when your chosen color hits multiple times.

Anti-Martingale strategy in baccarat

Prosperity Tree Baccarat
This kind of baccarat wasn’t exactly my favorite, I dare say.

Baccarat’s steady pace and even-money bets create an excellent environment for Anti-Martingale progression.

When the table’s hot, you can really capitalize on long streaks.

Let’s see an example of how to apply Anti-Martingale in baccarat:

  1. Start with $10 on Banker (-105/1.95)
  2. Win → Double to $20
  3. Win → Double to $40
  4. Lose → Back to $10

The key here is to pivot towards the banker bet (lowest house edge), factor the 5% commission, and maintain the steady progression.

Anti-Martingale system: Alternatives

While Anti-Martingale offers a solid approach to progressive betting, several other systems share similar principles. Let’s see some alternatives that might suit your style:

  • Martingale System
  • Paroli System
  • Oscar’s Grind
  • D’Alembert System
  • Fibonacci System
  • Labouchere System
  • 1-3-2-6 System

Final words

After exploring the ins and outs of Anti-Martingale, it’s clear why this system has stood the test of time.

The real power of Anti-Martingale is in the balance between aggressive progression and bankroll protection.

Keep in mind that even the best system can’t overcome the house advantage. Set your limits, enjoy the game, and always gamble responsibly!
